Dead Funk Summit
Friday, February 22 / 9:45 pm-12:30 am
The name “Joe Marcinek” is synonymous with the term “super group.” The explosive guitarist/vocalist from Indiana loves the Crazy Horse and every time he visits, he brings a handful of the hottest players in the country. This marks the return of previous Joe Marcinek Band all-stars, bassist/vocalist Tony Hall (Dumpstaphunk) and drummer Alan Evans (Soulive). Rounding out the lineup with his spectacular keyboard wizardry and vocal prowess is Scott Guberman (Phil Lesh and Friends).
This project is the junction of world class musicians igniting a funk firework spectacle with forays into the Grateful Dead galaxy. Tony Hall’s playing is deeply soulful, freakishly ferocious and relentlessly jaw-dropping. His facial expressions alone are worth the price of admission. Mention Alan Evans to any drummer and they will confirm that he is one of the most tasteful, infectiously groovy players on the scene for the last few decades. Scott Guberman is a rare breed on the keys who makes every note shimmer with an element of magic. In the center of it all is Joe Marcinek and his breathtaking guitar chops leading the way through uncharted waters of improvisational exploration.
