Grease, Grit and Grime
w/ Stephanie Nilles & Thomas Deakin
April 26 @ 6:00 pm - 10:30 pm| Free
On the last Thursday of each month, you can consider a trip to the Crazy Horse like going down to the crossroads. Fortunately this event is all about filling your soul rather than selling it. Grease, Grit & Grime has long since become a local institution for anyone who loves the blues. They like to call it “Dirty Blues” but it goes down smooth like a spoonful of honey or a shot of good whiskey. When it comes to the sultry, dance-inducing side of the blues equation, you can be sure they have that dialed. Adding to what is already a stellar lineup, local guitar hero Bob Woods will be offering his talents to the equation.
Spicing up the mix exponentially is a duo of extraordinarily talented artists who – lucky for us- just happen to be passing through town. Keyboardists/vocalist Stephanie Nilles is from New Orleans. She has a timeless, irreverent, jazz-blues style which would be equally at home in a turn-of-the-century brothel or the present day Crazy Horse. Thomas Deakin is an exploratory sax and clarinet player from Seattle. These two are going to light a fire under Grease, Grit and Grime as special guests. Then they’ll treat us to an encore set of their own music. The improvisational factor will be high and little do we know just how big of a treat we are in for.
