They might be from the Arkansas Ozarks, but Handmade Moments have a deep-rooted kinship to Nevada City. We can all feel proud about their connection to the Sierra Foothills as they increasingly amplify their profile as an international phenomenon. What makes this duo so sublimely special? Every ounce of their substantial talent is channeled straight from the heart. Tapped in to a bottomless well of soul-folk-Americana-country blues-funk-hip hop-jazz, they stir it all into the most nourishing gumbo imaginable.
Anna Moss and Joel Ludford are vaudevillian gypsy multi-instrumentalists, carrying their tunes with sax, upright bass, guitar, percussion and otherworldly voices. They are YouTube stars who present interpretations of classic songs that will have you falling over with glee. Even more significant is their original material with extraordinarily clever lyrics and emotional impact. Their 2018 release “Paw Paw Tree” is a modern day masterpiece which makes it clear why Handmade Moments represents a musical movement which is just the dose of optimism we all need during these times. Their shows are typically lengthy, fully-immersive affairs where the audience feels like an extension of the band. They will lift your heart, move your limbs and send you off into the night bursting with inspiration.
Please come early for an opening set from the band’s good friend – cowgirl songstress Caitlin Jemma.
