Jessica Malone w/ Brotherly Mud
Friday, September 20 / 9:30 pm-12:30 am
Jessica Malone has one of those voices that whisks you away to places of both comfortable familiarity and dreamlike longing. The soulful songstress creates a one of a kind sound that blends a rootsy Americana with elements of folk, country rock, bluesy soul and sultry jazz. Her lyrics evoke a sense of wanderlust, self discovery and cinematic perspective. Her unfiltered approach to songwriting creates music that will take you back in time, while her heartfelt lyrics keep you rooted in the present. Her band is both tight and playful with the romantic stylings of gypsy violin soaring through the mix. While you might find yourself hypnotized at times, you’re more likely to be dancing to this feel-good feast for the ears.
Opening the show is Brotherly Mud – a Sacramento quartet blazing their own trail through Americana music with a unique amalgam of influences. Carrying degrees from the prestigious Berklee College of Music and Musician’s Institute, Brotherly Mud crystallizes its passion in the form of soulful, indie-folk. With multi-part harmonies and organic, instrumental flow, every note is expressed with honesty and heartfelt exuberance.
