Kanekoa w/Jimbo Scott
A CA Worldfest Bonus Show!
Friday, July 19 / 9:15 pm-1:00 am
/ $15 – $20
One week after their return to California Worldfest, Kanekoa returns to the Crazy Horse for a total blowout at one of their favorite venues. Sailing in on a wave of blissful sound, this band has become a local and global phenomenon over the last several years. Powered by dual ukuleles and exotic rhythms, they ride the wave of Hawaiian jam-rock, island roots and reggae fusion. Audiences never fail to swoon over their soulful originals and crafty covers interpreted with pure originality. Bill Kreutzmann goes so far as to call them, “the Hawaiian Grateful Dead.” David Hidalgo of Los Lobos says, “These guys scare me. They are that good.” On top of all that, they were honored with the prestigious Na Hoku Hanohano award for Best Reggae Album of 2017!
Opening the show is Jimbo Scott, a soulful Americana troubadour from Oakland . His songs have a unifying, emotional quality, rich in warmth and infectious energy. He has opened for acts such as the Charley Daniels Band, K.T. Tunstall, Emily Elbert and more. He frequently provides support for Poor Man’s Whiskey.
