The evolution of Boot Juice has been a magnificent phenomenon to behold over the past few years. This six-piece band from Davis has won over audiences all across the western hemisphere with shear passion for their craft and unquestionable authenticity. The practically inhuman volume of energy output they generate throughout the course of their relentless performances can’t help but to inspire a universal sense of awe and respect. More than anything, they’re all about having fun and taking every willing passenger along on a joyous, carefree ride.
Boot Juice defy the typical assumption that a big band with horns is sticking to the well-worn path of funk, soul and jazz. They certainly infuse those genres into the mix. More than anything though, this is an unabashed cosmic rock and vibrant Americana band intent on taking audiences into an alternate dimension of pure freedom and dance euphoria where the outside world ceases to exist. Their three-part vocal harmonies carry major impact with intoxicating doses of soul, blues and sultry appeal.
Stellar musicianship shines through the mix and group synergy resonates with the urgency of every note. The band’s firecracker of a lead singer – Jess Stoll – perfectly embodies their party-sparking ethos. Drawing favorable comparisons to the sound of The California Honey Drops and the spirit of the Talking Heads, you’ll have no doubt that the refreshing originality of Boot Juice always has a firm grip on the wheel.
Everyone had such a blast doing two nights with them back in March, it just had to happen again before the year was out. These shows will be a deep dive through the whole Boot Juice galaxy. In fact, the band even intends on discovering untapped aspects of their identity they never knew existed! They have grown accustomed to playing the bigger stages these days with their illustrious list of festival performances rapidly mounting: High Sierra Music Festival, WinterWonderGrass, Treefort Music Festival, California Worldfest, Live Oak Music Festival, Whale Rock Music and Arts Festival, Sugar Pine Music Festival, Golden Road Gathering, Redwood Mountain Faire, Davis Music Festival and more. There’s nothing like seeing them in the legendary intimacy of the Crazy Horse though, and you never know if that will happen again, so we might as well seize the moment!
