BrokenBassLine celebrates the intersection of two important cultural developments in underground music: the power of the breakbeat and access to deep bass that is felt as well as heard. These primal syncopated rhythms vibrate through your body as well as your ear drums and leave you no choice but to break it down on the dance floor.

Breakbeat gets its name from sampling the “drum break” in funk, disco and jazz records: the part of the song where the drums are naked. Foundational Hip-Hop DJs manually looped these sections for the reaction they got from the dance floor – the rhythms tap into something primal.

Producers sample, chop, re-arrange and mangle these source drum breaks to create genres like Jungle, Drum n Bass, Breaks, 2-step / Garage, Jersey / Baltimore club, and also program them into drum machines leading to genres like Electro, Miami Bass, and Ghettotech.

Modern sound systems have introduced previously unexperienced sub octaves of music, frequencies extending to the lowest threshold of human hearing and beyond , stimulating the brain in new ways and synchronizing dancers’ neurons and synapses to the pulse of the music.

It’s no surprise that Dust & Beau and Bartek Industries, two of the driving forces behind Evolv3 DnB, have teamed up to bring you a night of bass forward multi genre dance music. They have spent the Summer away touring, and are thrilled to return to Nevada City to dance with their community, bringing fresh sounds from new inspirations to get your body moving.

BrokenBassLine welcomes special guest Delaney for her Nevada City debut! Delaney is a professional specialty performer from Los Angeles who has been in Reno for 4 years. Her specialties include fire performing, stilt walking, stage dance and most recently DJing. Her love of breakbeat has inspired her to dive deeper into the realm of sound selecting. Her style is bouncy, upbeat, fun, warm and engulfing; like a cocoon of sassy bass, perfect to set the night off!

BrokenBassLine acknowledges that much of this music grew from marginalized people in the Black American and Queer communities and as such our dance floor is intended as a safe space for all people.  All forms of hatred will not be tolerated.
