LabRats is an out-of-the-box trio of multi-instrumentalists taking the Sacramento Valley by storm. The magic is generated from deep within the groove pocket by Jacob Swedlow; unquestionably one of the hottest young drummers on the scene. Joey Archie on keys and Miguel Recendez on synth bass give LabRats an adventurous instrumental blueprint unlike you’ve ever experienced before.
Quickly simmering and then rolling to a boil, brace yourselves for a fearless force of lo-fi jazz fusion, old school soul and psychedelic electro improv. Still very new in their process of development as a band, LabRats has proven to be an integral part of their hometown music scene. Their regular event – Sunday Sessions – has made The Torch Club Sacramento’s go-to destination for heady music aficionados. Now they are branching out and taking the show on the road.
The frequent presence of guest emcee Jakhari Smith is the fuse to truly ignite the fire. This young, visionary wordsmith has the type of flow and captivating talent which can easily draw comparisons to his hero – Biggie Smalls. LabRats have a rare crossover impact to appeal to a wide range of fans of several different genres. The bottom line is that you’ve never seen anything quite like this and you didn’t even know how badly your eyes were craving it.
