LAZWELL w/ Ryder Thieves

Friday, December 29 / 9:30 pm-1:00 am

/ $15

Lantz Lazwell is a larger-than-life figure. He’s part guitar hero, part comic book character, part international man of mystery. When fronting his band, LAZWELL (formerly Lantz Lazwell & The Vibe Tribe), you’ll never find him deeper in his element. Audiences have no choice but to throw caution to the wind as LAZWELL leads the way through a multi-layered, poly-textural labyrinth of funky, bluesy, rock ‘n soul. Captivating jamming is only part of the equation for LAZWELL. The stylishly-attired frontman commands the stage with the charisma of a natural-born performer.

LAZWELL grabs hold like a purple-feathered boa constrictor, delving into unexpected regions of funk, soul, blues and jam rock. LAZWELL manages to balance a “man of the people” vibe while also seeming like an alien from the soul planet. Once his band gets cookin’, they are a downright dance floor killah!

You’ll feel like you’ve received an exclusive invitation to a tribal gathering deep in the jungle or on the playa as they slay reinvented covers and make you fall you in love with their remarkably fresh originals. There’s a certain grittiness at play here which has a primal sensuality to it that is more than enough to awaken your pleasure centers. The saxophone work of Eric Weber (Swamp Zen) plays a big role in the band’s high-octane sound.

Lantz Lazwell has shared the stage with such greats as George Clinton, Bernie Worrel (Talking Heads), Stephen Perkins (Jane’s Addiction), Angelo Moore and Norwood Fisher (Fishbone) and The Neville Brothers. Their new record, “Counter Clockwise,” features most of these artists and is due to drop in Fall of 2023.

We are excited to finally have the Ryder Thieves here to set the tone for an epic night. We’ve been hearing great buzz about this six-piece band. They have a lot in common with LAZWELL stylistically, while also taking things in a different direction. We’re talking about a funky, soulful, electro-jamband with a strong sense of humor and desire to bring people into a state of unfettered bliss.
