Matt Axton & Bad Moon

Friday, July 10 / 9:45 pm-12:30 am

/ $15

Some people say that songwriting is in their blood, but for Matt Axton, he’s got the lineage to back it up. His grandmother, Mae Boren Axton, co-wrote “Heartbreak Hotel” for Elvis Presley. His dad, legendary singer-songwriter Hoyt Axton, penned songs for Three Dog Night and Steppenwolf. Born in Lake Tahoe and now based in LA, Matt is carrying on the family tradition with a gusto all his own. Like a human jukebox, he’s got 300 of his own songs ready to go for our listening and dancing pleasure.

Along with his power trio Badmoon, they’re ready to kick down the doors of the Crazy Horse with their assertive blend of Americana, Outlaw Country and Bluesy-rock. It all comes with a healthy dose of soul and a backbone of two-steppin’ groove. The band recently made a big splash at the Golden Road Gathering in Placerville and is gaining more recognition on the scene. This will be a perfect “decompression” show in the wake of the High Sierra Music Festival the previous weekend.
