PunaKat

Prepare for an island-style jam experience unlike any other. Coming to us all the way from Puna, Hawaii, PunaKat brings a combination of vibes and talent unmistakenly inspired by their homeland. Bringing the band to Gold Country has been a longtime goal of former Nevada City resident and keyboardist Jahred “Namaste” Nelson. He is eager to share the sextet’s exploratory, psychedelic rock, reggae and funk sounds with the dance-happy crowd at the Crazy Horse.

Powerful female vocals are at the forefront as the band weaves its way through covers and originals including Grateful Dead and reggae classics. Don’t assume though that the music is all laid back. PunaKat gets into some dark, dirty jamming with Steve Fundy’s channeled guitar work carving new corridors of enlightenment.
