SOUL Brass Band w/ DJ Fossil

Soul Brass Band is the genre-bending creation of New Orleans percussionist and frontman Derrick “Smoker” Freeman, joined by an all-star cast of New Orleans heavyweights. Their sound is a fearless fusion of hip hop, jazz, second line tradition, classic soul, and street-born swagger — modern, infectious, and undeniably alive.

Featuring Grammy-winning tubist Miles Lyons, Billboard-charting saxophonist James Martin, and a rotating lineup of elite New Orleans talent, Soul Brass Band brings explosive musicianship and authentic Crescent City spirit to every stage. Collectively, the members have toured and performed with Trombone Shorty, Jon Batiste, Kermit Ruffins, Ivan Neville, and The California Honeydrops, blending world-class experience with street-level groove.

It’s essential to get this party started early and keep it going late, so we’re bringing in the OG vinyl samurai, DJ Fossil. It’s always a treat to have his one-of-a-kind talent in the house and we’re very excited to have him back. He can do it all, but funk, soul and rare groove are his specialties. Thinking back on his epic Mardi Gras set from a few years ago, we expect he’ll be tapping into the NOLA spirit. Everything Fossil spins is laden with a silky, organic flow as well as an urban swagger as if he emerged from the genesis of the DJ revolution in NYC in the 80s.
